What is your role, and can you tell us a little about it?

As Recruitment Coordinator, my job is managing the end-to-end recruitment process! This includes arranging interviews, attending job fairs, providing feedback to candidates, and helping our new starters to feel welcomed by Torque.

How long have you worked for Torque?

I’ve been a part of our Human Resources department for 7 months now, but I used to work as an agency representative on-site at Torque. I enjoyed interacting with the business so much that when the opportunity arose to join, I grabbed it with both hands!

What do you love most about your job?

I attend job fairs where I get a chance to promote the business locally and speak to potential candidates. I find it very satisfying when the successful candidate is offered a position, and I really enjoy inducting new starters into the business, as I can help them settle in to their roles.

What invaluable thing have you already learnt in your role?

Teamwork is absolutely vital. In our HR and Recruitment teams, we know that if anybody needs assistance with anything, there is always someone willing to help out as much as possible.

What one piece of advice would you give someone interested in a similar job?

Stay positive and don’t give up. Working in recruitment can sometimes be hard and frustrating, but there’s no better feeling than finding the right candidate and securing them a placement.

Can you tell us the funniest or most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

Some of the excuses that candidates have given for not turning up to interviews, such as the death of a favourite fish, have been bizarre! The most interesting thing to me is learning how to deal with the challenging situations that arrive daily. It is safe to say that no two days are ever the same.

How do you think Torque go the extra mile for their employees?

At Torque, we invest in our employees by giving them opportunities to develop their skills and career paths. Our HR department works in partnership with line managers on performance management, employee relations, resourcing, and staff training and development. All of these things can help our employees to progress into a long and rewarding career.

Will you share a fun fact about yourself?

When I was younger, I was part of a girl band and we used to perform at our school and local fairs. It wasn’t until I was older that I have realised that I must have been really bad, as when going through old photos I noticed that I was the only one that wasn’t allowed to hold a microphone…

If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be, and why would you ask them?

Stieg Larsson, J.R.R. Tolkien and Jo Neso, to have an in-depth discussion about their books!
