What is your role, and can you tell us a little about it?

I’m a Senior Operations Supervisor for our Sweaty Betty contract in Castleford. My job is to manage service levels, while looking for and actioning opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency across the contract. I also need to make sure that all jobs are being completed on time, to make sure our customer is happy!

How long have you worked for Torque?

My adventure with Torque started 7 years ago in Wakefield.

What do you love most about your job?

If you are hardworking and want to develop, Torque will give you the opportunities to do so. Torque really appreciates its employees; and if you show that you are brave enough to take more responsibility, you can really go far. I also love that I have always worked with wonderful people that I’ve become very close to over time. We’ve been in a lot of funny situations!

How did you progress into your current role?

Like a lot of people, I started working at Torque as a picker, for contracts including La Redoute. After a year, I became an admin who prepared corporate orders for another contract. I liked this job very much! Later, I got the position of Operations Supervisor on the same contract – in the meantime, my beloved son appeared in the world. After maternity leave, I decided to make the move from Wakefield to Castleford, and here I am on Sweaty Betty. At the beginning of the year, I became a Senior Operations Supervisor.

What opportunities has Torque given you to develop your career even further?

I’ve been given a great chance to broaden my horizons with the Torque Level 3 Leadership and Management Development Program. The scheme focuses on developing my people management skills, using these skills to help motivate employees, and understanding how good management supports the company’s performance. I will be involved in projects and completing online activities, which my manager will assess to make sure that I use the tips and knowledge I’m learning in my day-to-day work.

What invaluable thing have you learnt in your role?

I’ve learned a lot about myself and the kind of person I am. I did not know that I have such a strong personality. Moreover, I have learned that working in a team is one of the best opportunities for development. We can learn a lot from each other and count on ourselves at the same time. I am lucky to have been surrounded by very ambitious and intelligent people who have shared their valuable knowledge with me.

What one piece of advice would you give someone interested in a similar job?

Believe in yourself and your skills, and don’t be afraid to take risks! It’s better to regret something after you’ve tried it than to think “what if…”

How do you think Torque go the extra mile for their customers?

Torque personalises every customer’s contract based around their needs and offerings. We always aim to make the process as simple as possible from start to finish, and we are always on time no matter what! Working in my current role, I can see more than ever just how much Torque cares about every customer and works hard to meet their expectations. I know that our customers appreciate our cooperation with them and recommend our services to others.

Will you share a fun fact about yourself?

I’m addicted to buying high-heeled shoes. I probably have over 200 in my collection!

If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party you were hosting, who would they be, and why would you ask them?

I’d like to invite people like Jeff Bezos, Larry Page and Sergey Brin to dinner. Jeff became the richest person in the world thanks to his hard work and enormous intelligence. Online sales are an integral part of our everyday life. Larry and Sergey, who founded Google, humble me with their EQ & IQ. They’ve created great working conditions and their creativity is something that attracts millions of people to their company.
