£20,000 raised for our Community Partners!

As we’re well into fundraising for our 2019/20 Community Partner, Simon on the Streets, we wanted to take a moment to update you all on the incredible achievements of our Torque colleagues who raised a whopping £20,000 for our 2018/19 Community Partners Wakefield Riding for the Disabled and Rainbow Ward, Wigan Hospital. Ove the past month we went to each of the charities to see how the money is already helping.

A year of fundraising efforts combined with generous contributions from some of our wonderful customers helped Torque raise a total of £20,812. This amount, in addition of the £5,000 the Torque business donates to each charity meant Wakefield Riding for the Disabled and Rainbow Ward, Wigan Hospital received £15,406 each! An amount, I’m sure you’ll agree, is something to be proud of.

Janet Pennington, Fundraising Manager has this to say, “the creation of Teenzone on Rainbow Ward will be an incredible facility that will benefit thousands of young people for many years to come”

Wakefield Riding for the Disabled

The monies raised allowed Torque to buy two new ponies for the centre, Zach and Ellie. In addition to purchasing horses themselves, the money has also allowed us to buy all the equipment each requires, and pay for vaccinations and so on, but it means we can continue to sponsor both Zach and Ellie for another 5 years! An incredible achievement.

Wakefield RDA were thrilled saying ‘we can’t thank Torque enough for their generosity. The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of disabled people living in the Wakefield District, enriching lives through horses.”

Rainbow Ward, Wigan Hospital

Rainbow Ward, Wigan Hospital are underway, after a year of planning, with the build of the new Teenzone, a much-needed area dedicated to the Ward’s slightly older patients. It will be a space of rest, recoup and social interaction, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the ward.

Thank You

Once again, a huge thank you to each and every single member of Team Torque, colleagues and customer alike who made snacks, ran fundraising events, donated clothing, and those who took part and put money in the fundraising tins.
