In April, Torque secured a new 176,000 sq. ft distribution centre at Wakefield Europort, Castleford, which now becomes our seventh operational site in the UK.

With an ever-expanding customer base it was essential to add new warehousing capacity so we can continue to meet and exceed the supply chain needs of the varied group of brands we work in partnership with.  This property, situated on the M62 corridor in Yorkshire, allows us to reach customer stores, carrier hubs and freight ports both quickly and efficiently.

Commenting on this latest chapter in Torque’s growth story, Stewart Firth, Head of Operations, said ‘We are delighted to have this new site and are now fully focused on integrating this into our operational network.  It’s also particular pleasing to be working closely with another community in our traditional Yorkshire heartland and we look forward to developing these links in the years to come’.

Existing Torque customers, Mountain Warehouse and GLD, have already relocated to the new site and there are detailed plans in place for the site’s development, much like with Torque’s site at Kettlethorpe, Wakefield, which was acquired in 2015 and has expanded rapidly since. The Company hopes that in time the Castleford site will provide job opportunities for some 300 local people.
