Values In Motion: The Principles behind everything we move
At Torque, we talk a lot about the art of movement and supply. But behind every pallet moved, every shipment delivered on time, and every problem solved before a customer even notices it, there is something quieter doing the heavy lifting: our values.
Values are easy to write down. Plenty of companies have a set framed on a wall somewhere, gathering dust and good intentions. Ours are different, because we actually live by them. They shape how we work, how we treat one another, and how we show up for our customers every single day.
We hold three values close, and each one is brought to life by three behaviours. Here is what they mean, and what they look like when the work gets real.
MAKE OUR SERVICE AS GOOD AS IT CAN BE
Good enough has never been the Torque standard. This value is about the relentless pursuit of better, and it rests on three behaviours.
> Hardworking
At its simplest, this means showing up and doing your best every day. At its best, it means approaching the work with energy, commitment, and diligence, the kind colleagues notice and customers feel.
> Efficient
We work in an organised way, completing what the role asks with minimum waste. The people who lead here plan around the team's strengths and are always hunting for ways to cut cost, reduce waste, and leave a lighter footprint on the planet.
> Adaptable
Logistics rarely runs to script. Being adaptable means showing a willingness to do what is asked, and, when you are leading, embracing change and new ideas. The best of us treat adversity as a chance to grow, and help the whole team meet change with confidence rather than dread.
CREATE STRONG PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Logistics is a people business dressed up as a moving one. Every shipment sits on top of a relationship, and this value is about keeping those relationships strong.
> Approachable
Be open-minded and treat people with respect. Leading approachability goes further: welcoming constructive criticism, understanding how your words and actions land on others, and finding better ways to communicate so people feel genuinely valued.
> Reliable
Deliver on your promises and be the teammate your colleagues can count on. Do that consistently enough and you start to inspire confidence, which is the quiet currency every strong team runs on.
> Honest
Be open and transparent with colleagues and customers alike. The people who lead here build an environment of trust, and they have the difficult conversations when the moment calls for them rather than dodging them.
GO THE EXTRA MILE
The phrase is well worn, but at Torque we mean it both literally and figuratively. This value is about doing more than the brief, and it shows up in three behaviours.
> Proactive
Seek out ways to exceed customer expectations and make things simpler, easier, and more cost-effective. Leading proactivity means staying close to industry innovation and using what you learn to suggest changes that grow revenue or sharpen a process.
> Courageous
Meet challenges with determination and conscientiousness. Real courage is acting responsibly when others will not, focusing where you genuinely add value, and trusting your colleagues to do the same.
> Positive
Talk positively about Torque and its customers, and you are already halfway there. Championing Torque, approaching the work with excitement and curiosity, and motivating the people around you as you go is what turns a good day into a good culture.
Taken together, these values and behaviours are more than a list. They are the foundation of our culture, and the clearest answer to a simple question: what does it actually mean to be part of the Torque team?
The answer, we think, is on show every day. In our offices and our warehouses, on the road, and in the small hours when a deadline will not wait.
