Business and Customer Focus: May 2023
Planting Wildflowers for a Bee-Friendly Future
When our Courier Manager, Steven Foster, suggested planting bee-friendly wildflower areas at every Torque site, we thought it was a blooming great idea.
Environmental impact
Steve submitted his idea through our Ideas Here scheme after reading about the concerning environmental consequences of the declining bee population.
Creating grassless wildflower areas will help provide crucial food and habitat for bees and other pollinators. Wildflowers can also contribute to carbon offsetting efforts, by helping to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being released in the atmosphere.
A team of gardeners have started preparing the wildflower areas at our sites, with Steve sowing the seeds of change at our Leeds site:
“I can’t remember where I first heard about the declining bee population and the potential impact. It all seemed scary, but it seemed like one of those big problems that could be tackled by everyone doing their bit and having some awareness.
It feels good to work for a business that wants to have a positive impact on important matters, including the environment. It doesn’t have to be a big or expensive idea to have a positive effect.”
Steven Foster, Courier Manager
What we’re planting:
Our wildflower areas are being planted with a 100% grassless seed mix to maximise the amount of bee-friendly flowers. The flowers will be a vibrant mix of annuals and perennials, which means that the areas will always be full of beautiful flowers!
We’re absolutely buzzing to see them grow.
Albaray
We’ve got flowers on our minds this month, and with their beautiful Spring Florals Collection, there’s no better customer than Albaray to shine a spotlight on!
The sustainable womenswear brand was founded in 2020, by an all-female trio. In March 2021, Albaray put their trust in Torque to handle freight, warehousing and fulfilment for their ecommerce orders and store concessions. Our experience in onboarding brands of all sizes meant that we could take the pain out of their onboarding process and support them fully through their launch.
We asked Kirstie Di Stazio, one of Albaray’s founders, why Torque was the “obvious choice of partner” for them and how we go about delivering on our core business values.

Going the Extra Mile
“We are absolutely delighted to be working with Torque on Albaray. We value our partnership greatly and genuinely enjoy working with every member of the team!``
It’s fair to say the feeling is mutual. Thank you to Kirstie for taking the time to share her thoughts with the team, there’s no better feeling than knowing we’re making our customers’ journeys a little easier and helping them smile along the way.
