Employee Focus: Kinga Szafar, Operations Supervisor

Kinga has been with Torque since 2017, progressing through various roles from Warehouse Operative to Stock Controller, then onto Warehouse Administrator before taking on her current position as Supervisor.

Can you tell us a little about your role as a Supervisor? 

My responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, managing customer communications, and leading a team. My work involves coordinating the activities of six departments in one of our Leeds Warehouses to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in our operations.

What does a day in the life of a Supervisor at Torque look like? 

A typical day for me begins with a thorough review of our operational status, followed by planning daily workload and optimising our workflows. I engage with my team by having regular meetings to monitor progress and provide guidance, while also maintaining continuous communication with our customers to ensure their needs are met to the highest standards.

What do you love most about your job? 

What I find most rewarding is the opportunity to make a solid impact on our operations and customer satisfaction. I enjoy leading my team to achieve and meet our targets. The dynamic nature of our work and the challenges it presents keep me engaged and motivated.

What invaluable things have you learnt in your role? 

The importance of adaptability. The logistics sector is dynamic, with lots of changes and challenges. On a personal level, this role has honed my leadership skills, particularly in decision-making, problem-solving, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

How do you think Torque 'Goes The Extra Mile' or their customers? 

I believe Torque meets the unique needs of each customer. Our approach involves a deep understanding of our customers' objectives, proactive communication, and the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements. 

This, combined with our extensive experience in the logistics sector, enables us to consistently exceed expectations.

How do you help to 'Make Our Service As Good As Can Be?'

I make sure that we are always seeking ways to optimise our processes and enhance our service. This includes regular training, adopting best practices, and always giving the best of me for the team and business.

How do you 'Create Strong Personal Relationships?'

I prioritise open and transparent communication, actively listening to feedback and showing genuine interest and respect for others' perspectives. Fostering trust and collaboration, which are critical for sustaining long-term professional relationships.

Will you share a fun fact about yourself? 

I am the lucky owner of a miniature Dachshund and as big fan of this breed you can imagine... Everything in my house has a Dachshund theme on it! Starting with my pyjamas and ending with my coffee mug!
